Movie Premiere

Hi Folks,

I’m proud to announce the world premiere of my movie “Trained in the Ways of Men”:

Cinequest Film Festival
San Jose Repertory Theatre
Sat. March 10, 7:45PM.
Also showing March 11, 4:45PM

Movie Synopsis:
============================================================
Four years in the making, this powerful documentary explores the controversial events surrounding the violent murder of Gwen Araujo in Newark, California—a murder that shocked the country when it made national headlines. "Please don't. I have a family..." were her last words. In October 2002, her picture appeared to the nation, from CNN to the New York Times, her sultry eyes seeming to tease us to discover who she is. When four men discover that 17-year-old Gwen Araujo, the girl with whom they had been intimate, was biologically male, they beat and strangled her to death. They were arrested for the murder two weeks later, claiming they acted in the heat of passion, provoked by what they saw as Gwen's deceit.

This is a case that attracted famous attorneys, spawned a made-for-TV movie, compelled almost 1000 people to attend Gwen Araujo's memorial service and thousands more to march in the streets demanding justice. Trained in the Ways of Men is an exploration of the provocative complexities of gender identity; what does it mean to be a man or a woman? How do we react when our expectations are violated?
============================================================

This was a very personal and emotional movie for me to make. As a society we fear things we don’t understand and those fears can color the way we treat other people unlike ourselves. I hope my movie can help people better understand transgenders and the difficulties we face on a daily basis. Please join me in a special evening at the San Jose Repertory Theatre.

I saw your movie the other night.... it was amazing, I loved the question "are you male or female?.... how do you know?" It was really eye opening... your sexuality is something you must discover on your own... it has nothing to do with what's between your legs!! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR MOVIE!!!
